Software Engineer
A senior role on our web applications and internal tools, carrying work from schema through to the shipped interface.
You would be the senior engineer on our web applications and the tools that support them, in a small team where the person who designs the schema is usually the person who ships the interface over it.
The work
- Ship a range of products, from small internal tools to web applications used by thousands of people a month.
- Take a project from inception through design to the detailed, unglamorous end.
- Build end-to-end data solutions, including schema design and performance tuning.
- Prototype web interfaces quickly, then iterate on them using real customer feedback.
- Gather requirements alongside the other engineers and designers rather than receiving them.
- Write open, reusable components instead of one-off solutions to recurring problems.
- Prioritise your own workload. Nobody here will assign you a sprint backlog.
What we expect
- Three or more years of professional software development.
- A degree in computer science or a related field, or the equivalent in work you can point at.
- Working command of most of: Ruby and Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, CSS and SASS, JavaScript, and asynchronous request patterns.
- A developed sense of what our customers are trying to do, and opinions about how to make that easier.
